I've written about this abbey in
several of my novels but I haven't
been there for a few years now so
I was bowled over, pleased, to find
this site about jazz.
I studied Gurdjieff, Ouspensky and
related Sufi teachers for many
years and this is the best approach
I used to visit Sophiatown, mainly
for the great jazz - Hugh Masekala,
Miriam Makeba - and this wikipedia
site is excellent and covers a lot of
ground and with good links
On the Californian coast where
Esalen started and Henry Miller
finished. In my novel it is home to
Henry and his last but one love.
All the facts and figures you need
to know about this wild city. I loved

If you look at the map, along the coast
line going north from Cairns, up past
Cooktown - about opposite the inland
town of Cohen - that's where TOE had
its final headquarters.
It's still a pretty lonely part of the
Goa, Calcutta, Big Sur, Henry Miller, Gurdjieff, township jazz,
Miriam Makeba, Esalen and Sufis all feature in these links
